aPad - The iPad Imitation Review

I want to start this blog post with a saying I heard a long time ago - "God made everything, everything else - Made in China.".  Now what did I mean by that? Every time we get hold of something technological or some kind of invention whether a toy, computer, laptops, household materials, etc. we see a marking of where it's made. Now here's a question you can ask yourself - How many of those things have a "Made in" other countries aside from China? That's right, only a few.

Here's another one of those imitations from China - the aPad is what they call it, comes first before the "i"Pad if your talking about the alphabet. I think it's from Moonse and here's a video demonstration from Youtube.
I personally got the chance to test one out and my expectations were somehow met. This is also my first gadget review so I'm not yet an expert regarding Androids. This is a cheap Ipad imitation and can be a nice accessory for gadget crazies. First off, let's start with the specs.
  • 7-inch capacitive touch screen display
  • WiFi capability
  • Video playback (MP4, AVI, RMVB, MKV)
  • 2X USB ports
  • 3.5 mm earphones socket
  • Built in microphone
  • 256 MB RAM
  • One click Youtube access
  • Stereo Speakers
  • Audio support
  • Picture viewer
  • Google browser

Let's start off with the external features. The aPad is a 7-inch capacitive touch screen that has a single button on the bottom just like the iPad. It also has an input for the earphones and a port where you can insert an accessory for the USB ports and Ethernet (LAN). It also has a stereo speaker at the bottom and a slot for a microSD for memory expansion. The MID tablet also has an external keyboard built in the casing it comes in with. There is also a stylus available and the menu and volume button can be found at the right side of the tablet.

For the performance of the gadget, it's a mediocre according to my experience. There are games already available upon purchase but you can also download more online. The game I tried playing was Plants VS Zombies (in Chinese) and I was amazed that it's much more fun to play Plants VS Zombies on a touch screen. The graphics were fine but it was kind of slow; well what can you expect with a 256 MB RAM.

The best thing I liked about the aPad tablet is the touch screen and the web-browsing. The capacitive touch screen is very responsive although the slow processor makes it lag quite a bit. The web-browsing experience was good as it can stream videos especially on Youtube, it doesn't take a long time to load too, just play the video and no need to pause it - just let it play all the way through. The microSD can also be upgraded up to 32 GB of memory.

There are also things I don't like about the aPad like the boot up time which takes 1 minute and 30 seconds. Playing games on it also lags and the speaker is just not that loud enough. Switching from one application to another also takes a lot of time due to a slow processor. The price range of the aPad can range from Php 4,000 - 12,000 depending on location. Provincial prices are up to Php 12,000 epecially here in Iloilo (Marymart Mall).

Here are some more pics.
